The Alternative
Feng shui has been very much in the public eye for a good few years now. Unfortunately,
the saturation of information from the media and in the bookstores has led to
much misunderstanding and the further mystification of this system. Feng Shui
is essentially a creative and practical tool that has many simple, yet wonderful
ways that all of us can improve our awareness, our general sense of wellbeing
and prosperity in life.
‘I thought that feng shui was about painting walls and moving
furniture. It is! But it’s primarily about where you are and where you
want to be in your life. Kenny came and put into words things that I knew somewhere,
but could not describe. We looked at every area of my life, where it was stuck
and how to get it flowing. I changed my room. I changed my outlook. It feels
right. Things are moving. Thank you Kenny for literally changing my life around.’

Some of the benefits commonly reported as a result of Feng Shui in the workplace
include increased sales, increased productivity, increased turnover, less time
taken ‘sick’, longer periods of employment and better relationships
all round. Let’s face it, business is about relationships.
Different elements, shapes, colours, etc. stimulate different industries. Here
are some basic tips that can safely be used by pretty much anyone.
Shop doors should open into an empty space, even if relatively small, so that
the energy entering is not blocked on arrival. From this space, energy has a
chance to filter through to the environment.
Sharp corners (displays, shelves, etc.) pointing directly at the door will
produce an unsettling energy that will affect people as soon as they walk in.
Certainly not a safe environment in which to consider spending money.
The flow of human traffic along the shop floor is most lucrative if it is slow
and relaxed. Straight and angular pathways cause people to rush from one point
to the next, missing out on all the goodies on display in between. Create a
path for people to follow, as the items on strategic display happen to catch
their eye.
Large mirrors are used widely in Feng Shui to activate and increase space,
or to speed up the energy of the area. In a business setting, they are very
powerful tools which, when placed on any walls other than the one directly facing
the door, will double the stock, traffic and money, while activating and exciting
the atmosphere conducive to a healthy, balanced consumerism.
Mother Earth protects us from noise, air and electromagnetic pollution with
the cleansing aspect of plant life. Plants help cleanse the atmosphere of electromagnetic
radiation emitted by pretty much anything you plug in. NASA research tells us
that Spider Plants, Peace Lilies and Jade ‘money’ plants are the
best electromagnetic balancers. At a very basic level, natural plant life counter-balances
our modern synthetic environments, so keep it as natural as possible with carpets,
soft furnishings, etc. Ionisers, indoor waterfalls and salt crystal lamps are
a definite plus, turning positive ions into the negative ions that refresh and
invigorate.
Whatever you do, steer clear of the intensity of fluorescent lighting –
in fact, anything intense, always!
If your main entrance is well announced and your intentions are clear, with
good planning and a bit of Feng Shui magic, we can all claim the good fortune
that is naturally ours.
There is only so much that the medium of the written word can convey, and we
do our best to get the essence of the topic across, empowering you to make your
own changes with your own awareness. If, however, you have a persistent problem,
confusion or issue, or if you simply wish to stabilise the success you already
have, invite the help of professionals. An outside perspective can often work
wonders in pointing out patterns or stagnation that does not serve the person
we wish to be. We work with people, building teams; with marketing, financial
and architectural plans – a significant part of our work.
It is an incredibly fulfilling vocation to offer this clarity and awareness,
enabling people to reclaim their personal and professional power.
