In & Around Covent Garden
Feng shui is the ancient Chinese system based on the 2000 year old I-Ching
– the art of placement where furniture, art, mirrors, colour, and natural
objects such as plants, crystals and light are used to stimulate the energy-flow
in our homes and work places. This can result in positive changes in our personal
and professional environment.
We teamed up The Poetry Society with Kenny and Kris, practising Feng Shui Experts,
for a consultation. Jess York, Poetry Place Manager, told Kenny about the history
and objectives of the Society and showed him around. The report that followed
gave several interesting and practical suggestions ranging from making the entrance
to the café more inviting, to the proposed installation of mirrors, frames
and multi-faceted crystals to encourage a welcome feel and a water feature for
a calming effect.
Recommended ideal colours for the poetry reading rooms were lemon-yellow stimulates
the mind, clear thinking and learning and turquoise which boosts creativity
and expression. Sharp edges or table corners send unsettled energy and should
be countered-balanced with rounded objects either in front or on top. Bamboo
flutes are also a possible method of combating cutting edges which may affect
the flow of energy.
Afterwards Jess commented, “Feng Shui can certainly give you a fresh
eye and a new enthusiasm and suggested changes may very well have the positive
effect of creating a new energy. Kenny and Chris were very friendly, professional
and the detailed report raised many practical points.”
